Am I required to wait for trusted list response on a profile?

NEWT: my father-in-law already has a bare bones profile, managed by someone I don't know.  I have requested to be added to the trusted list.  Should I go a head and create the profile for my father-in-law, with a plan to merge at a later date or am I stuck waiting for a response?

Please do not create a duplicate with the idea of merging later.  You will have to be patient and expect to wait at least 7 days for the other person to respond.  All here are volunteers, with 'real lives' which sometimes interfere with WikiTree work! :-)

The profile manager is active, in addition to the trusted list request you can put a comment on their profile, stating why you want to be added to the trusted list.

You could also send the PM a private message through WT with the same information about your connection to the person, your father in law.

And the advantage to using all three of those contact methods is that if the PM hasn't responded within a week, you've already done all three of the initial contact steps for the Unresponsive Profile Managers process and can go straight to sending the request.

Just to follow up and close this question; It has all been resolved. I added Ronda to the trusted list, the next day the manager made her a co-manager, and the profile is now "open". The profile was private because we did not have a death date and the birth date fell within the range that defaults to private. Thank you all for advising her to be patient. We've got enough duplicates to clean up.
