Acknowledgements where on profile?

Recently I saw a profile change where the acknowledgement section location was altered.

I have recently left that alone due to my own confusion due to what I perceive as conflicting advice on two help pages.  Finally, I decided it was time to risk looking stupid and ask.

https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Help:Acknowledgements

I have looked at the above page and found:

"You may wish to include an == Acknowledgements == section at the end of the text/narrative section of a profile."

Which I assume is at the end of the biography before any == Research Notes == our == Sources ==

However, the following help pages states:

https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Help:Biographies

== Biography ==
=== Early Life ===
=== Family ===
=== Occupation ===
=== Death & Legacy ===
=== Timeline ===
== Research Notes ==
=== Disputed Origins ===
== Sources ==
<references />
== Acknowledgements ==

My question is which is the correct placement?

Thank you for the quick reply.

I would like to know how to request help pages change, as it seems that I am not the only that erroneously think "text/narrative" is the biography section.

Hi NG. Maybe try editing your post and adding the tag

done.
NG like you I had problems interpreting the location of a profile's Acknowledgements Section due to a lack of definitional understanding about when the text and narrative stops and the Acknowledgements Section begins. Instead of asking in G2G I cheated and hunted down examples from well designed WikiTree profiles which clearly met the style guideline requirements. In other words I took the monkey-see-monkey do approach (which is reasonabe unless you're passing along a mistake.) After finishing my profile work I then had time for a good think about what the guidelines meant by text/narrative and basically what Rob summerizes in his answer smacked me in the face (in a good way). The guideline uses "text and narrative" in a literal sense as terms which, by definition, means the Acknowledgements are placed after the <references/> line (which is immediately preceeded by the ==Sources== line.)

I agree with Melanie. The correct order is as stated in https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Help:Biographies

I don't see the two pages as conflicting since "at the end of the text/narrative section of a profile." in my mind means the very end of all the text including research notes and sources.

It is confusing that, on WikiTree, we don't have a clear name for the text part of a profile. So people call it the "biography" or the "text/narrative section". But there is also a part of the text that falls under a "== Biography ==" heading.

I think this is pretty clear and unambiguous:
Help: Biographies - Proper Order.
It's on the same page and illustrates where the various sections and sub-sections go.
