I'm trying to resolve a problem with the birth of Anne West Neligan. Her marriage in 1869 says she was the daughter of Rev. James Neligan. http://nla.gov.au/nla.news-article65984432
I found Anne (24) and her mother Mary Ann (61) arriving in Victoria, Australia on the ship Bates Family in 1863.
Mary Ann died in 1874 aged 77. http://nla.gov.au/nla.news-article268043383
But if the Rev. James Neligan died in 1835, how could Anne be his daughter if born around 1839? All newspaper articles found say she was his daughter. I'm wondering was there a second Rev. James Neligan?
I have added some more details for Rev James Neligan and attached his father Rev Michael Neligan, who was already on Wikitree. There doesn't appear to be another Rev James Neligan for Kilmacteige co Sligo. The brother in law of the bride Rev W H Walton might provide a clue. But ages can vary on different documents.
Just noticed. Rev Michael Neligan married Hester West and that will be where her middle name comes from.
Just another update Rev W H Walton is Rev William Henry Walton a methodist minister. Married Sarah Neligan. Here are 2 articles on on him, the 2nd one mentions Sarah Neligan. https://www.myprimitivemethodists.org.uk/content/people-2/primitive_methodist_ministers/w-2/william-henry-walton and http://penguinheritagetrail.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/2019-05-07-Penguin-General-Cemetery-transcripts.pdf
