Mayflower Ancestor Matthew Fuller? or not?

After several months of searching, I found a connection to a Mayflower passenger, I think. I traced my family line back to Matthew Fuller (1603?-1678) and found that there are discrepancies in documentation vs.DNA. Does the Mayflower Society not recognize him at this time? Were there two Matthew Fullers? If so, how do I know which one is my ancestor? There were so many threads over several years that I ended up confused.

My family line connects to Fuller starting with Reliance Fuller(1691-1761) who married John Prince. Reliance was the  daughter of Dr. John Fuller (1644-1691) and Bethia, his 2nd wife. Matthew Fuller and wife, Frances, are listed as John Fuller's parents. Reliance Fuller is listed here on wikitree as a Mayflower descendant still, is that before Matthew Fuller became questionable? or does she have another Mayflower ancestor that connects her? If she's connected, I am :)

Jan, Here's the link [waaay below] to the RECOGNIZED Mayflower Passenger list. Click through The Edward Fuller line and you will see Matthew Fuller WAS recognized by GSMD nut is not now. They dispute all the arguments made below. Why, they don't say.

Anderson in Mayflower Migration has Matthew as Edward's son [MM 88-89]. Matthew came over later, after the 1623 land division.

See TAG 61-198-99 and Silver Book MF 4:5-6. As to Matthew and his descendants, Anderson recommends as EXCELLENT Paul Prindle, Ancestry of Elizabeth Barrett Gillespie ... (n.p. 1976) 157-162. Answers likely in Prindle's book.

I have heard NOTHING about this GSMD position and nothing has been put in print at AmAnc. in this regards. Perhaps someone else has news.

My $ are on Anderson following Bruce McGonnigle, author of SBMF4.

P.S. Ah! From one of the several John Fuller profiles, I see that this GSMD rejection has to do with DNA analysis. Could not find press release about at GSMD. Onto Wiki which says It could be Matt's Mom is Edward's SECOND wife. Details at Wiki.  If THAT'S true [info suggestive only], why, yes, Matt descendants would be OK again.

Response to 2nd query. Neither Edward or brother Samuel have a son named John Fuller. Dr. John must then be profiled in the Prindel book Anderson recommends.

If GSMD holds to Matthew=NO, then you do not have an official Mayflower line through Reliance.

You may have other lines through husbands of daughters or wives of son, but you'll have to research that. Go find the Prindle book.
