I'm unsure of the conventions for Last Name at Birth (LNAB) regarding occupations. Would someone with pre-1500 certificate please review this profile and the Needs LNAB category and make the appropriate change.

Regarding the Auceps LNAB, does this need to be changed or is it appropriate to have one's job as the LNAB? If no change is needed, please remove the [[:Category: Needs LNAB]] category. Thanks, Debi

Good points, Debi. Also the note "auceps means king's fowler" should be changed. "Auceps" just means "fowler" or "bird catcher", not "king's fowler". See

Hi Debi
Probably the question that first needs to be answered, is whether Gamel actually existed, or whether he is part of a fanciful genealogy.  The current source on his profile doesn't look particularly reliable.

If he is just a product of a fanciful genealogy, then what his LNAB is, or should be, probably doesn't matter much.  If he did exist, then finding reliable sources to confirm this might give other clues as to what his LNAB should be.
