Is there a way to work out what this source is? S1555844385

Hi

I have been reading about my very distant Spooner relatives and see that a series of numbers are used 4 times as a source- S1555844385.  Is there a way to work out what the numbers refer to? If not what is the correct way to handle them?

That number came in most likely with a GEDCOM and could refer to almost anything. At one time there would have been a second entry which would have identified that source to some degree but it appears to have been deleted. You might find it going back through the changes log where at some point in the past you may see the entry for what that is (probably someone's tree or similar at Ancestry).

If you look back in the change log, you can find the original info at he time it was entered. (See 26 Sept 2013)

The  link still works, it's to a data collection now called US and International Marriage  Records(one of those vague ones which may not be very reliable).

When the gedcom data was 'cleaned' this was edited out.

The wife hasn't the same name as the linked wife but the year of marriage is the same. I suspect the newer references, especially the 1969 article  may be more reliable.

I've just also noticed Ian's answer. Looks like the links on each individual citation varied
