I would like advice or may need help creating a new category for the profile of Frank Windsor Higgins (and many, many others). The category might be named something like This Is Your Life (TV show).

Could I get help creating the new category? Or is there an existing category to use? Thank you!

I know there were long-running UK and US versions of this show, and there may have been versions in other countries.  I see no reason not to include them all in one category.

One one basic level it is a popular well known show that featured a wide range of guests, not just media celebrities but people from other fields as well.  Many of its featured guests are now deceased.

But it also can have some genealogical value.

I can't speak for the US version, but there is a website for the UK version: Big Red Book which I have found myself using extensively when profiling actors from the era who appeared as featured guests.  This can confirm family connections (it lists the guests which often include family members) and confirms parents etc were still living at the broadcast date which can narrow down elusive death dates.

A category for this site with a link to the Big Red Book site and an explanation why it can be helpful would, I think, be useful and informative.

Based on an American show that began in 1952, This is Your Life has a British version which began in 1955, a New Zealand version in 1984, and an Australian version in 1975, relaunched in 1995. Another relaunch occurred in 2010, but was not very popular and lasted just 4 episodes. Yet another relaunch began in 2022.
I'm not sure if there are other versions, but the above are the ones I noted as existing or having existed when I was tidying up my Genealogy in the Media listings for the Australia Project.

There's also a song and album with the title This is your life by the Young Canadians.  laugh

There was never a show of that name produced in Canada, but since we get a lot of US channels, probably seen by lots of Canadians.

This is your life listings in Wikipedia.

Not sure a category would be useful for this.  It's a bio item if a person was featured on it, and may be a source if there is mention of relatives etc in the show.

I ended up making an index page for it.  It seems to me an index page is superior to a category because it includes people who DON'T have profiles and acts as a prompt for finding and connecting them.

There have been a few Canadians featured on both the British and US versions down the years.

The "suggest a category" process seems to be a bit hit and miss, I suggested one for a UK parliamentary constituency and it was created within the hour.  Meanwhile we have existing categories for obscure TV shows no-one has heard of while this one, rich with historical guests over a 60-year period, I just get crickets.

Anyway there's lots of American celebs on the index page that I haven't linked yet, everyone is welcome to jump in and find their profiles to improve the page.

Very nice page, may I suggest a bit of amendment on the instructions text?  ''Please hyperlink to it from this page'' should probably read ''add its link to this page''  (for pre-existing profiles).
Yes, feel free to just jump in and edit the text if you think it can be improved or simplified!  (I do have a tendency to get a bit wordy sometimes).
