I agree with the premise of the honor code but why does that upgrade me?

Question

I just signed up today and am still finding my way around so I appreciate the message about the honor code and agree with the premises set out but why does that automatically upgrade me if I sign the honor code?

it is a prerequisite of membership beyond guest member

It automatically upgrades you so that your will have equal access to ALL of the features shared by everyone who has signed the honor code.
