I can add a to the profile of William Packer. This is who I can add:John Packer and Thomas Packer.

These are the sources I am using:John Packer born about 1496, Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, England and died about 1554, Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, England. He married Agnes (unknown) Packer. She died 26 Dec 1562 Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, England. Thomas Packer born 1458, Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, England died 1558. He married Margaret Kibblewhite about 1489. She was born 1462 South Fawley, Berkshire, England. That it for now.

Should I contact one of the pre-1700 projects or know about any style guidelines before proceeding? Thank you!

To directly answer your last question: YES, contact the pre-1700 people to be sure, even if you have pre-1700 certification. Prevent an error. Also, by going over this plan with a project member, you will really learn how to do it. And as several dates are Pre-1500, you absolutely must contact those project people [Bobbie (Maddison) Hall, for instance] or, without certification, your attempt to make a change will be blocked. Directly ask some one for assistance.
Bobbie Hall.

Please assistance me on Pre-1500. I would like to learn how to do it.

You need to add your sources, not just the names and dates of John, Agnes, Thomas, and Margaret.

Here is a source, from the History of Parliament article on William's son John. John, born in 1572, was the 3rd son, but the second surviving son, of William Packer of Twickenham, Middlesex, and his wife Elizabeth.

Also, Thomas Packer of Cheltenham is shown in the Visitation of Gloucester, with his sons Edward and Thomas. No mention of William Packer of Twickenham.

What evidence do you have that supports a connection between the Packer marriage in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire and the Packers of Twickenham in Middlesex? The Packer family of Cheltenham are mostly already on Wikitree and well sourced. The Visitation of Gloucester for the Packer family does not show any link to the Twickeham Packers. The image included on the profile of William is for the burial of two young Packer children in Cheltenham - William and Margaret, children of John in 1599/1600. The profile of William also has a research note on it stating there is no known connection between the Cheltenham and Twickenham Packers. The profile of Elizabeth Borwell that has been attached to William as a wife has been done essentially without a single source to confirm the marriage. Her only source is a burial record. My suggestion to rectify the issue would be to simply remove the information that dates and places their marriage in Cheltenham - as there is nothing on either profile to prove this. Cheers, Elizabeth

There's a book, History and Genealogy of the Packer Family, by James Thurbur Packer. This claims that Thomas Packer (pages 7-8) of Ham in Cheltenham was the father of John Packer of Twickenham, the Member of Parliament (page 14).

This book suffers from a fatal flaw: the belief that there is one Packer family, all related. One Thomas Packer must be the same person as another Thomas Packer in a different county. But there is, for example:

1584 Packer, Thomas, of Ham, or of Cheltenham, Gloucs, yeoman

1585 Packer, Thomas, of Shobbroke, Devon, husbandman
https://waalt.uh.edu/index.php/CP40/1436-7:_A-J

1596 Packer, Thomas, of Newbery, Berks, mercer
https://waalt.uh.edu/index.php/CP40/1578-9:_A-J

Not all the same person, probably not related at all.

Packer is an occupational name for a wool packer. The surname originated in many places, so the different Packers are not all related.

There once was a Packer named Jack
Who packed lots of wool in a sack
He walked into town
And marched up and down
With a full load of wool on his back.
