• I made minor changes in FindaGrave matching algorithm to prevent false connections. The change is noticed on cca 2000 profiles where a wrong memorial was selected.
• New session of Ask Aleš will be on first Wednesday in April. Ask questions in G2G

Previous News

• Renamed index CreatedBy to Created. If you were using Createdby=Creator_Trtnik-2 in your searches you now have to use Created=Creator_Trtnik-2
• Added creation year to the Created index. Created=Created_2024 Year is prepended with Created_
• Template:Succession was added to the ConnectionFinder notables definition. That means that Notables CC7 will be calculated also for profiles having the Succession template. Deprecated templates Succession box and Succession box2 will not be added since they should be replaced with the new one.
• I prepared the succession reports. They are all collected here: https://www.softdata.si/wt/Cat/Succession/ I think this will help unify the template usage on different profiles for the same position. It will also help with transition to the new template. There are 2 special reports. SuccessionReport_All.htm contains all data and is huge. SuccessionReport_Rest.htm contains the data not shown in any other report. All other reports contain the word in the report name SuccessionReportPope.htm in position or years field. Old templates had the position often listed in the years parameter. Reports are updated once a week as database dump is processed. In the reports each Position is shown in 2 tables. First one is named Online data and displays extracted data linked to the WT+ data. the 2nd table named Template parameters lists actual parameters used in templates.

• Removed profiles with private tree from 591 FindAGrave - Possible father and 592 FindAGrave - Possible mother suggestions. Most of them were actually false suggestions.
• I corrected a problem with Suggestions 969 and 970 about named inline citations. See: https://www.wikitree.com/g2g/1708203/suggestion-870-missing-named-inline-citations
• I changed the list of hints on the right side on Challenge tracker page. The hints defined by the challenge now show up when you check the challenge check box. You can see what I am talking about here: https://wikitree.sdms.si/function/WTChallenge/Challenge.htm?ProfileID=10816946 The 2 challenges with defined items are Integrators Challenge and Weevils Squashed 2024.
• Added WikiData ID to wikidata index. You can now search for wikidata=q23 to find profile(s) linked from that page.
• Added link to ML/WL addition history to Space:DBE_Project_Status reports.
• Added a possibility to search for changed profiles by a user in last month. Index name is changesmonth and you use it like changesmonth=Trtnik-2 or changesmonth="WikiTree-11" https://plus.wikitree.com/default.htm?report=srch1&Query=changesmonth%3DWikiTree-11

Hi Aleš. An issue is discussed at this link where an improvement to the handling of some HTTP 302 status responses may prevent generation of false 966 suggestions.

Hi Aleš. Suppose there are two existing categories X and Y and a new category Z. Would EditBot be able to rename the setwise intersection of X and Y to Z? In other words, for each profile which is in both X and Y, could the bot remove categories X and Y from the profile, and add Z instead? No. You can use WT+ to find such profiles and correct them manually. Unless there are thousands of profiles to change. In that case I can program an addition to editbot.

Thanks for the reply, Aleš. In the case envisaged at the link I gave, the operation would not be needed until category X and/or Y became very large. At that point, if the intersection were still quite small it could be handled manually with assistance from WikiTree Plus along the lines you suggest. It's good to know that if the intersection were as large as thousands of profiles, you could add code to EditBot to handle it.
