MIDDLETON, AARON CRAWFORD b. 1809 NJ. d. 1907 IA does anyone have parentage?

Question

I have no parentage for him, only his brothers:  John, Joseph, Samuel, George, David, James.

Aaron was the oldest.  He is buried in Rose Hill's Indianapolis Cemetery, Mahaska County, IA.

There is false information on FAG.  Obit says he was born in Ohio.  Cousin Mrs. Hunt, Haddonfield, NJ, says never.

Obit says he came to Davenport, Scott County, Iowa.  He died at his son's farm home in Gibson, Mahaska, IA of "grip"/grippe on 19 March 1907 as the oldest citizen.

I'm doing Eldridge genealogy.  My 4th ggfather's son, Charles Henry Eldridge married Josephine Thompson who died in 1871 after their 4th child.

#1 child - Edward Gifford Eldridge b 25 June 1860 was sent to live with Aaron Middleton in Mahaska County, Iowa about 1872.

I would like to link the families and have no parentage for Aaron.

The help text for Uncertain Parents has the following:

There is no theory about the parents that is more than a guess 

1. Do not connect any parents (unless an unknown parent placeholder is necessary to connect a known sibling), and
2. explain the current state of the research in Research Notes.

Note the italicized text (highlighted by me).

The edit screen has an option to add a sibling. These feature is there even if the person you are adding a sibling to does not have parents. So, I think if you add a sibling, the “placeholder parent” is created.

I did not find a policy statement that contradicts the help text.
