Gateway Ancestors & Magna Carta ancestry

Question

Hi! I've set up a structure to try to index Magna Carta ancestors. The Category - http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Category:Mowbray-151_Descendants - is for descendants of Magna Carta surety baron William de Mowbray that have been reviewed by the Magna Carta project. Through the Magna Carta project, I've found profiles of seven Gateway Ancestors who connect to him, but I could use some help in adding [[Category:Mowbray-151 Descendants]] to the badged ancestors between the Gateway Ancestors (listed on the category page) and him. All you need do is look at the profiles of the ancestors of those Gateway Ancestors & if they have the Magna Carta template & are a descendant of Mowbray-151, add [[Category:Mowbray-151 Descendants]] to the profile. Bob - I've found one badged Gateway Ancestor for FitzWalter http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Category:FitzWalter-101_Descendants ... if you wanted to add [[Category:FitzWalter-101 Descendants]] to the profiles in his trail. (If so, THANKS!)

I was under the impression that all of the profiles for all of the Surety Barons had been completed already when I joined the project in March 2015. But since you asked, I took a closer look. I think the question needs to be asked as a separate G2G post!

Bree - never mind my last reply. After a brief discussion in the Magna Carta project's Google Group, one of the members volunteered to overhaul Mowbray-151. Give us a bit. And thanks for asking!

I noticed that the Bigod-1 & Bigod-2 lines merge with Quincy-226 at Umfraville-25 (and De Umfreville-32, De Umfreville-34 & Umfraville-13). Is it ok if I add the categories up to the gateway ancestor Welby-8 ? I rely on Lewis's website since I don't have the Richardson sources & she's in Vol IV so she's not online.

Thanks for asking Kirk. No, I just ran up the trail from Welby-8 and the only MCSB that the badged profiles lead to is Quincy-226, so she should only have the Quincy-226 Descendants category on her profile. The Descendant categories are for lineal descendants who are in a trail between Gateway and MCSB that has been reviewed/approved/badged by the Magna Carta project.

your question, and some private messages I've received from new members recently, as well as a re-review request message I've been working on to send to project members spurred me to create a new page - Magna Carta Project Trails. I'm still working on it, but take a look & see if what's there so far lets you know what needs to happen for Richard to have his trail completed/reviewed/approved.

The category pages are intended for profiles in completed trails between surety baron and Gateway Ancestor that have been reviewed/badged by the Magna Carta project (see http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Project:Magna_Carta and http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Space:Magna_Carta_Team_Base_Camp for more information).

The index is complete, but I'm still looking for profiles of badged Gateway Ancestors to add to the text of the category pages & badged profiles from their trails to add to the category.

Jump on in if you'd like to help, but please just add profiles that the Magna Carta project has badged (added its template to). Also, keep in mind that only Magna Carta project members should add the template (badge), and then only after the profile has been reviewed as part of a Magna Carta trail - at least, that's my understanding of the process. Doing it that way means that if you see a profile with the Magna Carta template, you have some assurance of its accuracy (in most cases - with so many descendants, not everyone will have gotten the memo :).
