Hi everyone!
It's time to get to know another one of our wonderful WikiTreers. This week's member is Bonnie Day.
Bonnie became a Wiki Genealogist in October 2015. She is a Connector, member of the Latter-Day Saints project and coordinator of the Day and Fox One Name Studies.
When and how did you get interested in genealogy?
I was adopted as a young child but what really started it was wanting to know more about my adopted great Uncle who was shot down on a bombing mission during WWII. I started in earnest when I was 20.
What are some of your interests outside of genealogy?
Gymnastics, watching TV, working on my novel, watching period and British Dramas like EastEnders, Father Brown and Wolf Hall.
What is your genealogical research focus?
My original focus was a mix of my adopted family and the family I remembered before my adoption. Recently it's turned to tracing my family revealed via my DNA and the fact that my adopted father is actually my biological cousin.
Are you are interested in certain surnames or locations?
Oh yes! I am really interested in my French lines, my Roy, Bouquet, Lindimere lines and my Napier and Hudnall lines. The latter is because of its mixed heritage. As to places, I would have to say Toledo and Sylvania, Ohio and Paramount, California.
Do you have a favorite genealogical discovery?
Discovery wise I would have to say it's finding out that I am half 7th Cousin 3x removed to President Thomas Jefferson. And finding out that I have ties to Salem and the hysteria there through my adopted family. And discovering that my paternal 2nd cousin Ensign Lee Fox was the first casualty of Pearl Harbor.
What is your toughest brick wall currently?
I have three. Finding the parents of my biological 2nd paternal Great Grandfather David Fox (Fox-22379) and the unknown first wife of my biological maternal 2nd great grand father Thomas Marion Hight (Unknown-620540) and Thomas' grand father who I don't know enough about to put him up yet but he is mentioned here (Hight-768).
