Is Richard III notable? And should he be?

Hi all!

I was just on the profile of Richard III, when I noticed that he may not be notable. The profile does not have the notables sticker that I can see, and also does not have the Connection Count within Seven Degrees at the top of his page like other notables. The profile is project protected, and so I was just wondering whether anybody could do anything about it!

Thanks,

There was a similar post  about this recently. https://www.wikitree.com/g2g/1708567/not-notables-british-royal-family-members#q1708567

Jo Fitz- Henry outlines the historical  reasons for not adding a notables sticker onto the profiles of royalty (and there's a bit of discussion about possible solutions).

Anyone who is pre-1500 certified can add a Notables sticker and that will add the CC7.

But the PM doesn't want it and it should be removed and not replaced according to the WT Help Page:

"Stickers should not be included if any contributor does not want them there."

Let me answer your question directly. Is Richard III of England considered notable? Absolutely. Is his profile currently included in either the category, sticker, or template of the Notables Project? No. As mentioned below, that is a choice the Profile Manager can make, and at this time, the Profile Manager has chosen not to place the sticker on the profile. WikiTree has a limitation at the moment where the only thing that will trigger a CC7 at the top of a profile is either the Notables Template or the Notables Sticker. As with anything, this could be changed in the future, and as mentioned above, discussions are still underway as to what would be appropriate if it were to be changed. We won't reproduce those discussions here, as they've already got a good head start in the other thread.

So Notable - yes. In the Notables Project? No.

Thank you for the explanation!
