On 3 Mar 2024 Ken Norman wrote on Maverick-78: Sarah (Maverick) Norman's husband is not John Norman (abt.1668-1712). Instead, she should be linked to John Norman (1660-). Renowned genealogist Walter Goodwin Davis, in chapter IV of his book "The ancestry of Sarah Stone, wife of James Patten of Arundel (Kennebunkport) Maine", gives a very detailed treatment of the Norman family of Salem and Marblehead in 1600s Massachusetts. His work is well-researched and provides primary source citations for all data presented. On page 49, we find John Norman (abt.1668-1712) as the 2nd child of John Norman (1637-1713). The younger John died without issue before 1713. Thus, he could not be the husband of Sarah Maverick nor the father of her children. On the other hand, on page 53 we find John Norman (1660-) as the 4th child of Richard Norman (abt.1623-bef.1683). It is this John Norman who is the husband of Sarah Maverick, as Davis documents there. I don't think there's any controversy over this since the record (as laid out in Davis' book) is clear. However, before I begin the work of modifying the connections, I just wanted to get a gut check in case I missed something.
