Can anyone verify the profile claim that individual is a Revolutionary Patriot?

Question

I found a John Scott (several) in RootsWeb (careful of that one - my antivirus blocked something on that one) and in

But, I am at a loss to verify that this John Scott is for certain a patriot.  Probably...but any help would be appreciated.

I searched the DAR Ancestor database and found 36 John Scotts but not one of them matched the dates, wife, or children of this profile. That doesn't mean he didn't serve just has not been documented in that database.

Thanks!  I'm experiencing the same.  The FG and the WT profile claim the service, but I'm not seeing the documentation yet.

This one will require some research because there were several John Scotts who served in South Carolina. A few of them submitted applications for pension, and you can find their records at https://revwarapps.org/ . The one application # S32508 is a John Scott who served under Gen. Marion and fought at Kings Mountain, but it is not the John Scott in your profile (wrong vital data). You may find him in the other applications. Good luck!

Yes, I had sifted through revwarapps.org and found that none of them matched the particulars stated for this John Scott.  I did it again...just to make sure.  Alas!

I did, though, add in the Research notes the reference to: S32508 John Scott (revwarapps.org) so it would be confused with him in the future.
