Breconshire, Wales Place Name Transcription

I have the 1871 census for Rachel Herbert, born late 1862, and transcriptions thereof give her place of birth as "Curndu", or "Car?Da", or "Curmdu". Can anyone please help with identification of the correct place name.
The census is on Family SearchFindMYPast, and Ancestry. Rachel had older siblings born at Llangenny and Llanbedr, and a younger one born at Crickhowell, all in Breconshire. Later transcriptions for Rachel all simply say "Crickhowell" (or at least something meant to be that), or "South Wales". Since this is the first census record, it seems likely to be the most accurate, therefore I'd like to know what the place is that is listed.
Many thanks for reading, looking and suggesting.

I am wondering if it could be Llanfihangel Cwmdû which has been shortened. Many places drop part of the name by the locals.

Thank you very much, Hilary. I did think that there was an "m" before the "d". The "ur" before that, though, doesn't look like a "w", when comparing it with the "w" in "Crickhowell". Sadly, I'm not very familiar with the Welsh language, and even less so with it's history. Might the "w" of Cwmdu have been written as "ur" back in 1871?
That said, Cwmdu is close enough to Crickhowell to be reasonable from the geographic perspective.
I've just looked at the opening page for Crickhowell in the 1871 census, to see the areas covered, and Cwmdu has been written quite similarly to the entries for the Herbert family. Hence, I'm happy to go with Cwmdu.
That's great, Hilary. Thank you.
