Source showing as a Footnote

I have found a source for the marriage of Jane Mary Lucretia (Cramer) Guinness 8 Jan 1829 to John Grattan Guinness. I added it no problem on his profile but on her profile it shows up as a Footnote. What am I doing wrong, please?

A few things here.

1.  The references/ tag is in the wrong place.  It should come directly underneath the ==Sources== heading.

2.  On WikiTree, there should not be a ==Footnotes== heading at all.

3.  You have put the marriage source, surrounded by <ref> on its own, not linked to any sentence.

4.  The ==Acknowledgments== header should have two = signs either side, not three.

Thank you for your help and quick replyheart. I have recently been using wikitree extension and 'Build Inline Citation'. For this I found on the explanation of how to use this feature it should be placed above ==Sources==, as I have done for her husband. As for Footnotes and Acknowledgements, I am not the profile manager. I am just trying to help by adding sourcesfrown

Here's the help page about Acknowledgements:

https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Help:Acknowledgements

Yes, if a source is surrounded by refs, it *should* go above the ==Sources== header.  But not on its own.  It needs to have some sort of sentence, like 'Jane married John Grattan Guiness on 8 January 1829.' <ref>Marriage "Irish Church Records etc etc</ref> What you have there is an inline source with no 'line' for it to be 'in'.

Adding Jane married John Guinness of Leeson Street, Dublin on 8 Jan 1829 in St Peter's (COI) Dublin <ref>Marriage....etc</ref> it still appears under Footnotesad

I removed the deprecated "Footnotes" header.
@Patrick - It still appeared under ==Footnotes== because you had not moved the <references/> tag to its correct place.  Jillaine has now done this for you.  Don't forget to change ===Acknowledgments=== to ==Acknowledgments==, also.
