We are Wilke English or German?

Question

What I've learned is my grandfather's name, my father's name. His brothers, Robert  (?) Wilke Are the same but my father last name changed to include two eyes and then His military records have two eyes (Navy Korean war). Married then they Named me Jr. My father Social security card was spelled with one eye. . So what I'm trying to do is find grandpa Carl Wilke father etc. I have learned a lot about my mother.. but not so much about my father until recently.

I came across this wiki to work with my search US. See how far it goes back searching for the right family.
