Would you like to join the Taiwan Project?

Question

Welcome to WikiTree's new official Taiwan Project, part of the Global Project

Do you have Taiwanese ancestry?  Have you visited this East Asian island, formerly known by its Portuguese name Formosa ("Beautiful Island")?  Maybe you have extended family or friends with ties to Taiwan or simply enjoy elements of Taiwanese culture.  (Bubble tea, anyone?)  These are all great reasons to join WikiTree's Taiwan Project!

Our goal is to create a central space for sharing resources and building our skills in Taiwanese genealogy.  As always, we want to see every profile be the best that it can be and the Taiwanese branches of WikiTree are no exception to this.

Joining is easy:

1. Visit the Taiwan Project page to learn how you can help and to find some resources and other helpful information.
2. Add TAIWAN to your followed tags.
3. Post an answer below expressing that you'd like to join the project, introducing yourself and your interests in Taiwan.

Ni how, Betsy (Hi Betsey), I cannot take on another project at this time; however, if I can find some of my old photos from when I was in Taiwan back in 1992, would you like them to add to the site? It will take a couple of weeks as I would need to scan them (they are photos...you know...with a camera...a real camera...not a phone). Xie xie, Carol

Ni hao, Carol--What a fantastic idea: yes, please!  I have some photos from my travels around the island too.  Sounds like a perfect free space page for the project.  Take your time and send me a private message whenever you're ready.  In the meantime I will create the FSP.  Thanks for reaching out.

As my spouse is originally from Taiwan I would be happy to follow and as I can get information from her add it to wikitree.

I seem to be missing where I can vote yes.

That's wonderful!  Your first steps are to follow the tags "Taiwan" and "Global".  Then, would you also please respond to this post?

Hi Betsy - I would like to join. My wife is from Taiwan and I spent several years living there. While I do not read Chinese, I am very interested in learning more about the sources available to research genealogy in Taiwan.
