Thank you for sharing that was a great story! The amount of time and work with that dedication to have to go back to his grandmothers siblings lineage is amazing. I so happy for his family to finally have closure. He died one day before his birthday I can’t imagine the grief of his mother and sisters to never see him come home. War is horrible!

Such great news for the family! I remembering watching something a while back (on YouTube I believe) about the fact that Canada is always trying to discover the identity of soldiers whenever they find remains. DNA at work!

Thank you for sharing this story and how wonderful that he has finally been identified  and will now be interred with a suitable inscription on the memorial. .

 I did not know about the significance of a whistle as a clue to a soldier being higher in rank than a private.
