Can DNA Connections be moved to the bottom of the profile?

I want to add more photos to my Father-In-Law's Profile and the DNA Connection is in the way. I just learned he earned the Bronze Star Medal with a combat V that I want to be on top, not at the bottom of the page. I did not know this. Charlie never mentioned it. Also, where is the Bronze Star Medal? I found a few medals, but most of them are for foreign countries.

I agree, Kimberly, it would be nice to see more of the profile, rather than the DNA stuff, which most profiles don't have anyway.
Whereas if I'm looking at the profile, I'd rather see the DNA information before the non-primary photos, and I'd be really annoyed to have to scroll past multiple images to find out whether the person has matches I recognize. Different people have different priorities for their WikiTree usage.
Yes, so why can't there be 'opt out' options?
I found the page that talks about the Stickers for veterans.
Kimberly, please add the tag "WikiTree_Tech" to get more informed answers to your question.

I've exhausted my knowledge in this area with one exception:  No, you don't need to re-install WBE to use the features described.  You may need to adjust the options, though, as described under my instructions for "To Setup for Readability".
That's true, Sharon.

Maybe if there IS no DNA info, it could drop below a field that is actually populated.

Obviously, if there is DNA info, people could be more interested in that than in looking at pics of people they don't know.
I am EXTREMELY OBSESSIVE about my privacy yet I still decided to take a DNA test.

I am glad I did, because despite obvious hints that I ignored, my biological Grandfather was not who I thought he was.   Amusing is the fact that I grew up thinking my other grandfather was my step grandfather, solely because his wife was my step grandmother, a child's assumption.

I personally prefer the DNA data to the pictures,   As I always turn off pictures on fan charts.   To each their own.
Thanks a lot!

You can display any of your photo's within the person's profile biography.

  1. Click on the image from the profile list.  This takes you to the image page.
  2. Scroll down the image page until you see the header Use Inside Text
  3. Just below you will find a snippet of text with a shaded background.  Copy that snippet.
  4. Return to the profile biography and open in Edit mode.
  5. Find a place in your profile where you would like to see the image.
  6. Paste the snippet there.  Use Preview to see it in place.

I have shown the result in my Grandfather's profile with the picture of him as a milkman with his horse and wagon. https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Berntson-21

Thank you. But, that DNA stuff still detracts from the profile, and I never know any of those people listed as it is. So what benefit is the DNA? I haven't done a DNA test bc I know those groups sell your DNA to anyone. These people are looking for certain blood lines. Doing those tests is worse than putting your home address on Facebook. the DNA attitude seems to be one of 'oh, look at who I'm related to...Henry the 8th.' I would not want to be related to that misfit pig. I'd be ashamed and embarrassed.
@Kimberly: There are many valid reasons to take a DNA  test for genealogy. Including for adoptions and Non-Paternity Events. Having your family tree done via documentation is one thing, but having it verified by DNA is another step.

I've worked in Cyber Security, and I'm also a professional genealogist. No, doing DNA tests is not worse than putting your home address on Facebook. You may have a particular opinion about them, but it does not invalidate the reasons that other people take DNA tests.
My own DNA test proved that my GrandFather was not who I thought he was and I had no idea I was researching an incorrect line (still fun and valid to research my step-grandfather).

I was not upset at the finding just miffed that I did not pick up the OBVIOUS hints that there was a problem.  I was certain on my bloodiine.

And I am Extremely PROTECTIVE of my privacy to being a bit OBSESSIVE yet I have chosen to take DNA tests.
@Eric Weddington Did I say I was invalidating anyone's reason for doing DNA testing? Having worked in Cyber Security, you of all people should know that DNA results are not secure and available for purchase by anyone.

To add the Bronze Star medal sticker and category to a profile, copy/paste the following template in the biography section of the profile:

{{Medal|medal=Bronze Star Medal|image=Beachler-75-2.jpg|category=Bronze Star Medal}}

The Bronze Star page can be found at:  https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Category:Bronze_Star_Medal

Or you can copy the Bronze Star from Wikipedia and save it in your father-in-law's images page in the manner you have saved other images.  (I'm fairly certain the Wikipedia image is public domain.)  If you take this route, be sure to use the method listed in my other answer to display the medal from your images.

Thank you. How do I add the 'combat V?' That's a very important part of receiving that medal. I tried writing it in the sticker, but it would not work.

You can see any profile without DNA and other distractors at all if you have WikiTree Browser Extension (WBE) installed.

To install WBE:

  1. Under the Find menu, select Apps, then drag left and scroll to the bottom of the menu to WikiTree Browser Extension and select it.  A page describing the WBE appears.
  2. Read the WBE page and follow installation instructions.

To setup for Readability:

  • Follow the instructions on the WBE page under Readability Options.

To enter Readability Mode while reading a profile:

  • Toggle the sliding button just under the menu bar.  When it turns green, the objects you have chosen to hide don't display and the display is wider.

So I have to do this for every profile or will the system automatically adjust all my profiles? And I have the WBE installed. I really like it. So, do I have to download it again to do what you've suggested?
@Kimberly: It's a setting within the WBE to show the sliding button. Once you select the sliding button then it goes into effect on all profiles you open up.
