Greeters welcome new and upgrading members, while simultaneously protecting our members from spammers and our Tree from vandals. They answer questions from new members and make sure they get the help they need to have a successful start on WikiTree.
The first thing new members notice that makes WikiTree different than other online sites from the start is the Greeters. They provide personal contact for our members as soon as they join from a living person.
Pre-requisites for joining:
1) Sign the Honor Code
2) Be a member for more than 45 days
3) Make 100+ non-GEDCOM contributions
4) Be able to communicate with guests and new members in a friendly, helpful manner.
5) Be able to edit a profile, post messages, and use e-mail.
6) Have a good understanding of WikiTree principles and procedures or know where to find the answers.
7) Have not been involved in a mentoring (MIR) situation in the past 3 months.
You will have a short training session with a member of the leadership team to learn the ropes. We use Google Calendar to schedule shifts so you can pick dates and times that will work for you. The minimum requirement is one hour a week. For communications, we use a Google Group and Discord.
If you would like to join us post an “Answer” below. Please do not comment, post an “Answer” instead, thanks.
The Greeters are an exceptional group, and we would love to have you join us!
