Advice before editing this pre-1700 Unknown profile?

I have information to contribute to the profile of Elizabeth (Unknown) Stafford. This is what I can add:

  • Maiden name

These are the sources I am using:

  • New England Marriages Prior to 1700; Genealogical Publishing Company, Baltimore, MD.

Should I contact one of the pre-1700 projects or know about any style guidelines before proceeding? Thank you!

That profile has a project as PM as well as PPP to protect the LNAB. The profile has quite a few statements about the maiden name.  The project has Reliable and unreliable Sources. I would recommend looking at This section that mentions your source

FYI: I click on "This section", which is a link to Torrey NEM, but I get:

This site can’t be reached

Check if there is a typo in new_england_marriages_prior_to_1700.

Maybe

https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Space:New_England_Marriages_Prior_to_1700

or

https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Space:Torrey%E2%80%99s_New_England_Marriages_Prior_to_1700

The citation examples with "span" on each page are outdated. The span tag is not recommended for use on WikiTree profiles.

Thank you. Your links work.
sorry, I fixed the link which is pointing you to the Reliable Sources page for the PGM project that is PM for that profile.

Torrey's New England Marriages is not a suitable source, as it points to a range of published sources of varying quality. It is necessary to check each of those and assess whether they are citing primary sources. The sources Torrey cites for the couple will be found on the Wikitree Torrey Source List page, which makes it easy to find many of the ones that are online.

If you have the 1985 or 1994 short version by Genealogical Publishing Co., this is not useful as it does not include Torrey's source citations, and therefore does not qualify as a suitable pre-1700 source for Wikitree.
