Could someone check my source citations and tell me what I'm doing wrong, please?

I'm trying to add sources for my great grandfather, Willie Jasper Baker (Baker-50799) and it keeps stating that "This profile lacks source information. Please add sources that support the facts." I've added from Ancestry and Family Search. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong.

Thanks for any help!!

Hi Theresa,

You need to put <references/> under the section title ==Sources== so that your citations can show up.

Also, you need to manually delete the line at the very top of the bio which categorizes the profile as unsourced.

You're not doing anything wrong.  To make that banner go away, you need to delete the {{Unsourced}} item just above the ==Biography== header.  It won't go away automatically; you have to remove it yourself.

There were actually too many <ref> </ref> s in the lines as well as the needs indicated by Colleen and Ros.

I hope you donʻt mind that I fixed it.

In your latest edit you have moved the inline references ( <ref>...</ref> ) after the Sources heading and <references /> lines. This is incorrect.

If you want to use inline references they need to be in the Biography section, ideally with some narrative sentences.

If you don't want to link them to the narrative then you should not use the <ref> tags and use simple citations starting with * to make a bulleted list.

I'm happy to fix it up for you if you let me know whether you want to use inline citations or plain sources. The difference is explained here.

Hi Rob, I tried to edit a few things on my own. Could you check and see if it looks ok.

Thanks!
Hi Theresa, It looks like you have an unsaved draft. If you save it I can take a look.
I did a full save, but it said something was still wrong.

Thanks for looking at it!
At the end of the Biography section (just before the Sources section) you have a <ref> which needs to be replaced with a </ref>
I fixed the closing ref tag.

Your sources also had the FamilySearch links twice and blank lines between the list items. I removed those. I think it looks good now.
