You will show as a DNA connection on the profile for your father (and your other ancestors) after about 24 hours. The database connections are only created once a day. As you add more people to your family your DNA will continue to propagate back.
If your father did a DNA test you can add that information to his profile by clicking on the Edit tab and scrolling to the bottom of the page. You'll see "DNA" in tiny letters. Just click there and follow directions.
