Disproven Existence question

Based on research in 2007 published in the NEHGS Register, this person did not exist. Multiple attempts to merge him with the father have been rejected. I'm not sure how to proceed. I would imagine he would need to be disconnected from the parents, wives and his children reassigned to his father's unknown second wife. I'm not sure how to do this and prevent this long standing misuderstanding from being recreated. Perhaps this profile and the profile of Doggett-7 should be project protected?

This profile has differences from the father:

  • Birth date and place (more specific place)
  • Wife and marriage date, possibly two theories of her LNAB
So it appears it has taken on a life of its own beyond the father.
If this person with the associated "facts" is frequently repeated elsewhere (genealogies, family trees), then there is significant value in preserving this profile and completing the steps to make it a Disproven Existence profile. See https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Project:Disproven_Existence and note that these profiles are made project-managed and project-protected.
WikiTree can uniquely help document incorrect genealogy found elsewhere, and help slow down its further dissemination.
