Am I doing this right - feedback requested

I'm not sure if it's ok to ask this.  I have been working to learn to develop a rich Wikitree biography that also conforms to Wikitree's style guidelines, source rules, and is coded well meaning using correct template practices, etc.   I have one that is for me what I'd like to develop -- I'd like feedback on anything I should be doing differently if I'm not using the correct methods, etc.  The profile in question is Lalonde-1481

Don't be shy - just show us the profile smiley

We love to look at other people's profiles around here.

Thanks. The profile in question is [[Lalonde-1481|Mitchell Antoine Lalonde (1920-1992)]]

Great job! You've really gotten into a lot of detail—way more than most of us will ever do—with tons of primary sources. And yes, I think you have all the technical parts correct, too.

A couple of minor things:

  • The DNA info that you have under a first level header after the Sources, should just be one of the sources. You don't need to revise it (it's perfect); just move it. You can add a "See Also:" line under the <references/> tag and put it there. See: https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Help:DNA_Confirmation#How_to_Add_Source_Citations which says "...add a source citation to the == Sources == section..."
  • The collections of sources you have as sources 1 and 3 could be more spectacular if each item had its own full citation. For example, #3, a single linked photo described as 'documents and artifacts', is actually three or four different primary sources! First off: Don't hide your light under a bushel. That's a lot of primary sourcing. Write every single one of them down and get some credit for your hard work. Additionally, you may find that as you begin to work on older profiles people will look for more exact information. It's not that it's technically wrong as it is, but that people tend to want to know exactly which version you were looking at and where they can find their own copy.

Regan,

Exactly the type of stuff I was looking for.  Adjusted the DNA back to See also and will use that model moving forward.  Also, I decided not to split up the sources -- but I fleshed out a numbered line model that identifies each source -- and added details about my added sources on Wikitree.  I think that's what you were getting at.  Let me know if I missed something.  Very helpful.
I think this answer deserves a star, very constructive and helpful.

Totally amazing. I don't think anybody will complain about this profile.

Just one thing: the "Wiki" profile links don't work in G2G, so here is a working link to the profile of Mitchell Antoine Lalonde (1920-1992).

Thank Leif - first time I tried that so I see that now.

Thanks Kay.  I'll read about and consider that.
Kay, after reviewing the Profile Improvement Project and Voyage, I really appreciate you telling me about it.  Thank you!!

That looks awesome, Todd!! I only have one thing you should look at. The first sentence under Birth and Parents:

"When Mitchell Anthoine Lalonde was born on June 30, 1920 but Mitchell and his family celebrated his birth year as if his birth year was 192."

Seems as if something is missing between 1920 and 'but'. It reads okay if you take the first word, "when" out.

Thanks for being my editor Shonda.  I had that as it is now but some how messed it up.  Great catch.
