It took a couple of turns on the mother’s side as it was (incorrect sex on census, name changes, and name spelling changes). The father was clearly dead or dead to Malinda. One of the censuses indicated she had two children born to her but didn’t list a number still living (maybe because she didn’t even know). Whatever the situation it was a bit messed up and may explain Alvie’s reluctance to share anything he knew.
He was a carpenters, though, as was his grandfather through Malinda - coincidence?
Anyway - thanks again. I notice the ancestors you added give possibilities for others that are more easily found. I’ll put that on my list to expand out a bit in the future.
