I am Jeffrey Allan Pittman Hess, nee Jeffrey Pittman. My dna suggest I am from 1600's settler in Yonkers new york area on my mother's side and 1660's Captain Thomas Pittman of the boxer rebellion in Jamestown Virgina (and his grandson the colorful Buckner Pittman (right hand man of George Rogers Clark, known couterfeiter of Spanish money, Was given 500 acres of land for his service prem Thomas Jefferson. Whe in the Rev. War came home to find his Mother had been crippled by a Tory. Tracked the Tory down and on public street in Nashville, shot the Tory Dead. The locals refused to indict him).  Anyway, I have watched this forum for a long time as we are antiques dealers and amateur historians and decided to join up

Welcome Jeffrey! Glad you joined our community.

Very colorful story in your ancestry. Most of my lines are born, get married, have kids, do some farming, and then die. Rather boring compared to yours.

Welcome. If you are referring to Gen George R Clark (5011), he is my 3rd cousin 7 times removed, per connection finder. This is the power of Wikitree. Without your contribution, chances are, I would probably not have known of this connection or that part of his story.

I think, his life ended as many patriots did after faithfully serving their country. Tragically, after serving his country faithfully, George in his old age was left to a life of poverty and obscurity. The State of Virginia gave him a sword as a token of thanks, to which he replied, "When Virginia needed a sword, I gave her one. She sends me now a toy. I want bread".

-Thanks Kevin
