Beatrice Joly Touchard, a retired medical secretary, died Monday of congestive heart failure at her home. She was 76. Mrs. Touchard was born in New Orleans. She lived in St. Bernard Parish for 32 years, and in Slidell for five months. She was a past president of the VFW Post 3706 Ladies Auxiliary. She was a member of the St. Bernard Homemakers Club, AARP St. Bernard Chapter and the St. Bernard Chapter of the American Red Cross. She was a parishioner and volunteer of Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church. She was a volunteer at Chalmette Medical Center. She received Volunteer of the Year awards from Chalmette Medical Center and the American Red Cross. She received the National Women's History Month Award and the Outstanding Community Service Award, both from the AARP. She was named Senior Citizen of the Month for St. Bernard. She received the St. Louis Cathedral Medallion Award. Survivors include two sons, Joseph L. Touchard Jr. and Patrick A. Touchard; a daughter, Eleanor T. Hanners; a sister, Audrey Barrie of Diablo, Calif.; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. A funeral will be held today at 1:30 p.m. at St. Bernard Memorial Funeral Home, 701 W. Virtue St. in Chalmette. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Internment is private.
