This month’s Bio Builders  theme is People who are cousins, any number, any removed. Have fun.

You are not limited to profiles on your Watchlist.

Thank you for your support.

Here's our checklist:

Data Section:

  • birth date/place
  • names of parents
  • marriage date/place and spouse name
  • names of children, if any
  • death date/place

Biography Section:

  • Written (full) sentences stating the facts above, adding inline sources to each fact.
  • Is the profile '''Genealogically Defined?'''
  • As a general rule biographies should be in your own words. Paraphrase and rewrite, don't copy/paste.
  • Baptism, burial, military, and other life events with inline sources.
  • Something to "humanize" the person, such as career or avocation with sources.
  • List of children with at least one pertinent fact.
  • Some list siblings. (I think this takes up real estate.)
  • Explanatory remarks, if needed (e.g. disputed persons information, Research Notes, whatever needs extra explaining).
  • Photos or pictures, background. Not a must, but nice (you need to own the copyright unless they are in the public domain).
  • Categories.
  • Connection to the Global Tree.
  • All duplicates merged or initiated.
  • Links to persons and events, perhaps from Wikipedia.
  • Historical context as related to the person's life.
  • Sources, Sources, Sources.

You can see some ideas on where to find some of this information on the Biography Builders space page.

Use "comments" below to ask questions.

NOTE: Biography Builders will not show on the tracker. Please add a list to your answer.

Just to clarify...are we improving profiles for people who are our own cousins of any degree?

Bob, the link MyWikitree/Cousins only shows living people.

I rather not do research on living people and besides many of the profiles are not open except if they are on my watchlist.

How can I find cousins that are deceased?
I agree, My Cousins is only showing living people, who I will not work on.
I’ve removed the hint. I didn’t check Cousins far enough to realize it only showed living people. Sorry.
Nelda, yes, they have to be your non living cousins. Bob
Here's how to find deceased cousins:

Go to your own family tree ancestors chart.
Open a profile of a great-grandparent or further back.
Find one of his/her siblings who had children...  i.e. children of a great-grandaunt/uncle... these will be your "cousins".

I have the WT extension installed and whenever I come across a cousin, even random people I'd never expect to be related to, it'll tell me the relationship at the top of the page.

I'm finding plenty of cousins on my "enhanced" anniversary list to keep me busy. Just go to the anniversary list and click on "Switch Format" if you don't have the "enhanced" format for the anniversary list showing things like how many degrees you are from the person and your relationship to them. You can even sort the list by relationship which is especially helpful for this challenge.
How do you "Switch Format"?
Fionnuala, you will see the button if you have installed the WikiTree Browser Extension. You may also have to enable the option in the extension menu. If you do not use (or can't use) the extension, this option will not be available to you on basic WikiTree.

It seems like I am always doing this, glad it is now something "listed" to do.

I try to do this every time the Person of the Week is shown.  I not only love reading about them, but also finding out if and just how we are related.  If we are related, then I get to work on adding the connection to my part of the tree.  That in turn makes (or helps) me to focus on another branch of my family!  I learn so much more with each of these.

I added cousins on my mother and father's side, to include cousins that are on my ancestry list. Should we list who they are?
