With Excellent help from a local Fredericks MD family tree member, I received an update on Jacob Forrest burial site. The following information was obtained with a picture Leah P. Leatherman Spade "Wolfsville historian current age 102" provided. I will attempt to post the picture!
On Wednesday July 6th 2022 at about 1:00 I passed by the Forrest Homestead/Kelbaugh farm and the folks were out in the driveway, so I stopped and talked with the father Jerry. He stated his daughter and son in law owned the property now. Jerry and his wife are retired and live in a cottage converted from the old milking parlor beside the barn on the right of the house.
He gave me permission to go into the pasture behind the house as I was guided by the photo and information provided by Leah. Its was 96 degrees and humid. I walked the whole length of the stone fence and saw no remaining tomb stones or remnants lying about. I looked the best I could around the fence which now resembles a pile of rocks covered by weeds and poison ivy. I feel this was the right area as it was off the center from the back of the house and just like Leah described?
The stones in the picture look very primitive and would have already been over 165 years old then factor in the time picture was taken in1985 and about 39 years of wind, rain, mowers, plows, horses and various landowners.
I (WikiTree Gillette-1230) plan to visit the site in May or June 2024 and will confirm what I find.
