Dear Greg, Barry Humphries was not featured '"recently", a matter of some angst for a number of Aussie WTers when his death earlier in 2023 went unrecognised on g2g/WT (except for the post I made).

He was last featured in January 2022, when he was still a Living Notable.

It says, something, though, about how Notable he really was that you remembered a 2-year-old feature as though it had recently taken place.  smiley

(One of these days I may create an account just so I can comment on live chats.  Nah, not gonna happen!  It's google!)

Thanks for correcting me Melanie - I could swear we had just talked about him!  I'm sorry for that oversight.  He was indeed very notable!  I'll have to do a better job of keeping track of who I've talked about (out loud) and those who I've just THOUGHT I've talked about recently!  Happy New Year to you!

It just shows how time flies!  Two years flew by in a matter of months!  (Well, there ARE times that feels how it goes.)  I wasn't "correcting" you as such, just updating the memory - and mostly because I was doubting myself.
(The reason for my nominating Barry for the "who did we lose in 2023 and not feature" feature was because I believed he had not been featured in 2023.  Then came Saturday and along with it doubt crept in.)

I still have very clear memories of watching Barry as Dame Edna ordering Charlton Heston around as 'her' servant boy and calling him "Chuck" (sadly, that clear memory does not extend to the name of the show, or exactly when it aired), throwing gladioli into audiences, and that supreme "well, helloooo possums" call of 'hers'.  (I have to admit, as great a fan of dame Edna as I was, I did not cotton to all o9f Barry's characters.  'Sir Les', for example, left me cold and shuddering at times because there are always going to be some who look at such a character and think 'all Australians are like that'.)

"See" you Saturday!
