Excellent! Thank you for informing us.
Ann, I have Volume 19 Part 2. will this new one have info about Thomas and Joseph rogers?
I don't know. Thomas (passenger) and Joseph (generation two) are covered in Part one. Does part 2 repeat their information.?  I don't have any of the Part two or three books so I don't know what's usually done.
I do not have part 1 (perhaps should have purchased it Vol. 13 Part 2 says "Family of Thomas Rogers through his grandchildren Thomas Rogers and Elizabeth Rogers 6th Generation Descendants". My research with the Thomas Rogers Society suggests that they are not certain if Elizabeth (Thomas' daughter with Alice Cosford) came here.  If she did it was probably in 1630 with her brother John.If that means purchasing another book, so be it. Thanks for your time.
Rogers-14310 Frederick Rogers, I do have a copy of Volume 1. It includes 1.25 pages on Thomas(1) and 4 pages on Joseph(2).

Thomas Rogers, Volume 19, (part 1, 2nd ed) covers the first 5 generations (plus names the gen 6 descendants) of the two of Thomas' children who are known to have descendants:  Joseph Rogers (bp 23 Jan 1602/3) and John Rogers (bp 6 Apr 1606). It does not follow any of his other listed children.

Thomas' son, Joseph, had 5 children whose descendants are followed in Volume 1 to the 5th generation:  Thomas, Elizabeth, John, Mary, and James.

Volume 19, part 2, covers the 6th generation descendants (and names the 7th gen) of the first 2 of those children, Thomas and Elizabeth.

Volume 19, part 3, covers the 6th generation descendants (and names the 7th gen) of the 3rd and 4th of those children, John and Mary.

The GSMD website says that a part 4 is in progress, but doesn't say who it will cover.

Volume 1, part 1, has only a small bio for Thomas' and Alice's daughter, Elizabeth:

"bp, 26 Dec 1609. She may have m. here and had children (Bradford's Hist 446). Eugene Stratton speculates in Plymouth Colony, Its History & People, 1620-1691, 288, that she might be Elizabeth, wife of SAMUEL EDDY; Clifford L. Stott in TG 10:138-49 speculates that she may, alternatively, have returned to Watford from Leiden and m. there."

Her descendants are not covered in part 1.  It is her niece, Elizabeth, dau of her brother Joseph, whose 6th generation descendants are covered in part 2.

Let me see if I understand how Volume 13 works. I am  a direct descendant of Thomas Rogers through his son Joseph (Lt. Joseph Rogers of Eastham) it looks like thisThe surname for all of them is Rogers. Thomas-Joseph-James-james-james-Jonathan-Timothy-Albert Cobb-Timothy Otis-Frederick Kimball-Otis Wendell -Frederick Wendell (me).  Part 1 is through his grandchildren including John of Duxbury Part 2 is from Thomas Rogers through his grandchildren Thomas and Elizabeth. Part 3 through his grandchildren John 3, Joseph 1 Thomas1,Maru, Joseph2 Joseph 1. My lineage does not include John , Joseph's brother who arrived here around 1630 So OI am not sire which of the three b books reflects my lineage best. You can see why I am a bit confused.

The best book for you is Vol 19, part 1.  It includes generations 1-5 of your line (Thomas1, through Joseph2), down through the name of Jonathan in the 6th generation. Jonathan is family #869.  This part also includes  generations 1-5 from Thomas1, through John2.

Part 2 covers families #325-512...through Joseph Rogers2 children Thomas3 and Elizabeth3.

Part 3 covers families #513-858...through Joseph Rogers2 children John3 and Mary3.

As you can see, this leaves out the 6th generation descendants of Thomas1-Joseph2-James3, specifically your line to Jonathan.  Maybe Jonathan (family #869) will be in the next volume.

Great to see this volume is out now!

Before I spend $65 for it, if anyone has access to this new volume, I am interested to see if the author has any new information on Joel Smith (Thomas Rogers1 / Joseph Rogers2 / John Rogers/ Hannah Rogers Smith4 / Joshua Smith5 / Joel Smith6).

There is sparse information about Joel on genealogy sites to date and I am hoping that this new volume will shed some light on this link in my ancestor line.

My copy of part 3 just arrived today!  On pages 165-166 there is a whole biography on Joel Smith and his family.  I don't know what part of this you would consider "new".  It does say that he married a Sarah (maiden name unknown), and had 4 children: Julia (birth dt & pl only); Betty (birth dt & pl only); Asher (a 10 line bio); and John (birth dt & pl only).  If you would send me your email address through a private message, I will send you a scan of these 2 pages.

Thank you Jerri (Thorpe-1622).  Another person just sent me copies of those pages from the new volume.  I was glad to see verification of Joel Smith's marriage to Sarah (Unknown) and the birth of his 4 children. (Julia, Betty, Asher, and John).

My line goes through his daughter Julia.  Unfortunately, Julia was only 12 years old when her father Joel died in 1784 in Sandisfield, MA.  His wife Sarah was only 30ish and left with 4 small children and few possessions after the probate process.  I have undocumented information that Sarah remarried soon after to a man named Elisha Allen Griffin, who was also a recent widower.  Elisha's home was in Granby, CT (only 27 miles away).  Further undocumented records show that Julia married Micah Holcomb in Granby about 1791.  Julia and Micah had 7 children (5 born in Granby before moving to Shoreham, VT).  Julia died after childbirth in 1812 and Micah died less than 1 year later in 1813, both in Shoreham.

So far, I have been unable to find any official records of the following:

Sarah Smith's marriage to Elisha Allen Griffin

Julia Smith's marriage to Micah Holcomb.

Julia and Micah's deaths in Shoreham, VT.

Julia and Micah's son, Jedediah Holcomb, was editor of a newspaper in Brandon, VT called "The Voice of Freedom".  In 1846, he detailed a trip he took to Granby, CT in search of his roots.  He discovered that his grandmother, Sarah, first married a man named Smith and then a man named Griffin. [ The voice of freedom. [volume] (Montpelier, Vt.) 1839-1848, December 31, 1846, Image 1 « Chronicling America « Library of Congress (loc.gov) ].

If anyone has additional information regarding these details, I would appreciate if you could contact me!!  Thanks.

As you claim descent from Joel Smith, and Sarah unk, that Sarah married Griffin does not necessarily need proven on a Mayflower application. However, that Griffin lived in Granby ("only 27 miles" is a FULL day of horseback riding) is important because you then have Julia marrying and living there.

In all likelihood, unless sources are found for the marriages and deaths, you will need to write a Proof Argument. A good starting point could be the 1790 census for Granby, Hartford, Connecticut, United States. You’ll notice Elijah Griffin (10th from the top) surrounded by Holcombs. Also, Elisha Griffin served with numerous Holcombs in the Rev War – Hartford County, CT. You might search for a pension record. Anyhoo, these sorts of things could provide circumstantial evidence of a relationship between the Elisha & Sarah Griffin and Julia Smith & Micah Holcomb.

I think I am a direct descendent of Thomas and Joseph Rogers through Joseph's son John, his son John, his son Ebenezer, and his daughter Patience.  Patience married Zaccheus Covell. They had a daughter named Sylvia.  Would Sylvia be in this new book?  Or would Patience be considered the sixth generation?
