Now that I'm learning to use WikiTree and have others to ask...
It has always bothered me that George Southwick-278 has two different DOB's listed in the publication Genealogy of the Descendants of Lawrence and Cassandra Southwick
[excuse me, I'm new at using WikiTree syntax]
Southwick-278's primary listing [Fifth Gen., pp 183, #191] (which, btw, has a typo superscript '6' instead of the correct '5') gives a DOB of "Feb. 8, 1753".
However, the dominantly cited DOB for Southwick-278 appears under the primary listing of his father Jonathan Southwick-115, in the list of Johathan's children, "191. George^5, born Feb. 8, 1750..."
I checked the Errata in the publication and there doesn't appear to be any clarification or correction. I haven't found independent sources, either.
Am I seeing the apparent contradiction from the change-over from the Old Style to New Style dating system on 31 Dec 1751? I think not. [edit: "21 Dec" to "31 Dec"]
Which should be the definitive year, the primary entry or the children list?
Thank you.
