All of these U.S. Black Heritage Project Notables, born in the month of December, need to be connected to the Global Family Tree.  Can you help by adding profiles of family members until a connection to the Global Tree is made?

The current tree size as of 26 Nov and CC7* as of 30 Nov  is shown for each profile.  During the month of December we will update the sizes weekly for those still unconnected so we can all see any progress made.(Red numbers as of 24 December)  Even if a connection is not made, adding even a single profile to a family is helpful and appreciated!

The ten notables selected for this month, in order of their birthdays, are:

5 Dec:  LtCol Charity Earley, WWII highest ranking African-American woman, CC7: 169  198, tree: 237 240   (Note: Charity has the 2nd largest unconnected US Black Heritage tree).  CONNECTED!!

9 Dec:  Archie “The Mongoose” Moore, World boxing champion, CC7: 12 71 , tree:  55

11 Dec:  Mo’Nique, Comedian and actress, CC7: 3  24, tree: 4  20

17 Dec:  Eddie Kendricks, Singer/songwriter, CC7: 43, tree: 35  CONNECTED!!

19 Dec:  Dr. Carter Woodson, Historian, educator, CC7: 46  64, tree:  47 65

19 Dec:  Cleve Abbott, Tuskegee University football head coach, CC7: 15  35 , tree: 16 42

25 Dec:  Sarah Bickford, Owner of Montana power company, CC7: 24, tree: 25  CONNECTED!

25 Dec:  Mabel King, Stage, film and TV actress, CC7:18  25, tree: 19 26

30 Dec:  LeBron James, NBA Superstar, CC7: 10  28, tree: 1  CONNECTED!!

31 Dec:  Odetta Holmes, Folk musician, activist, CC7: 3  40, tree: 39

Bonus (unknown birthday): Sarah Allen, “Founding Mother” of AME church, CC7: 20  33, tree: 21  169

If you want to add family to a living Notable, please create the family profile first and send me a request to link the two profiles.

As always, please add the {{African-American Sticker}} to any profiles of African-American people, and if you add photographs, make sure they're in the public domain.

For more unconnected USBH Notables profiles, and up-to-date links to this post and the current USBH Connection Challenge, check out the US Black Heritage Connectors Page.

*Tree sizes do not include private profiles or profiles connected thru the private profile.  CC7 does include private profiles, but may not include all profiles in large or extended trees.

There are connection(s) to the following Afro-American Notables on either Geni.com and or Familysearch / Realative Finder that have been done via my Royal and Famous Family on Facebook.

I created a couple of profiles in the tree of Archie "The Mongoose" Moore that turned out to be duplicates, and I've proposed merges for them. The original profiles were Dowdy-198 and White-11797. If the merges are accepted I think Archie might be connected. However, the creator of the original profiles hasn't been active since 2013, so we'll see.

Thanks Eva!  Let's wait til after the holidays are over and if you haven't heard anything from the creator let me know.  I think we can file an Unresponsive Manager request to get them merged.
Will do!

I am looking at Steven [Imes-179] Jr. and have some questions about proper procedure regarding his parents. From my understanding, we know that he was living with his grandparents in 1950, and that his grandparents would have been Will and Marguite Ragers (Rogers?). Would it be appropriate to create a profile for his mother of "Unknown Ragers" and then add Will and Marguite?

Let me ask some others on the USBH team as I'm not sure of the answer.  I would say OK if the mother was definitely deceased, but she could have been born early 1920s and possibly still alive? For now, if you haven't already, you could create the profiles for Will and Marguite and at least put the links in their grandson Stephen's profile.  Thanks for working on the family!

Hi Katie, thank you! I also just remembered that Maryland had a ton of records just get released and took a peak there. There is a child of Steven and Lillian Imes who was also born on July 13th!

That's awesome you were able to find the mother's name!  I saw you created a profile for her and that's perfect.  Maybe that will be the key to a connection for Mo'Nique!
