Lookup matches from offline list

Question

After getting a verification that the data from the anthology "Våre falne" is free to use, I will soon have a spreadsheet with about 11000 Norwegian citizens who lost their lives in WWII. Each record contain names, dates/places of birth/death, death cause, and link to the source. Most records also include the names and birthdays of the parents and spouses, and a lot of records also include key information that could be used for categorization.

Questions:

1. How can I check for possible matches from this list to avoid creating duplicates?

2. Can the information be formatted in a way to make it possible to import a record instead of punching the information manually?

3. Can images be uploaded in batches, and can an image be connected to a profile by using any form of automation?

4. If there is no match found for a person or his relatives, is it a good idea to import the record anyway?

Regarding your 2nd point...

The only way that I am aware of to automate merging or adding information from a large group of people is the GEDCOM process. So possibly you could convert your spreadsheet into GEDCOM format and try that route. There is a limit of 5000 people in the GEDCOM.

The WikiTree Sourcer extension will help fill out the Add Person or Merge/Edit screens with information from another profile on FamilySearch or Ancestry for example. It doesn't currently have a way to do that from a file with many people in it though.
