Suggested Matches Filters and WBE

Search Filters

Location:

2nd click: Same place. Further refine the filter to only include individuals born in the same place with the same name within the same country.

What do i need to do in order that this opportunity is on all the time and i don't need to click anything for each profile that i add.

I'm not sure that I understand the question.

The feature is designed to allow you to click each of the buttons to refine the filters, on the basis that one might need to use each of the buttons to progressively narrow the list.

There is a new Highlight and Sort option that does even more to help you identify likely matches.

3.3.1.4 Suggested Matches Filters

Hello Murray,

Within that description you have supplied is the following :-

Location:

2nd click: Same place. Further refine the filter to only include individuals born in the same place with the same name within the same country.

... if indeed it is possible to refine the list of potential candidates down to only those individuals

'born in the same place with the same name within the same country.'

then i am asking if that filter can be applied all the time without me having to do anything when i create a new profile.

Allan, I think that the Highlight and Sort option does just what you want. I demonsrated it on WikiTree Day.

"WikiTree Browser Extension: Features Review" with Greg Clarke & Murray Maloney

Please try that and let us know whether it meets your needs.

Hello Murray, Thank you for the link to the video, Marie Curie @11:42 is the example that i wish to use, when i initiated this posting i wasn't certain if the option to pre-set the Location, Name, and Date at various 'levels' existed, i am now assuming that it doesn't, so this posting now becomes a 'wish list'. I will respond below to Ian's reply.

As Murray has said, I think the Highlight and Sort option should be a big help, but I will look into adding an option to run the filter options as you last had them after the suggestions load (or possibly set the starting levels of the filters in the options).  I'll put it on my list, anyway.

Hello Ian,
I tried the new options of Location, Name, and Date when i created the profile of Annie Davison earlier today.
Annie was born in Darlington, Durham, England. Just to complicate issues Durham is both a City and a County in England, to distinguish when being referred to as the county - the nomenclature 'County Durham' is often used.
Is this instance the town of Darlington was then part of County Durham.

I will provide images here more for the benefit of anyone else who is following this posting.

Initially i get 41 possible matches for Annie Davison, although as can be seen from the image some are in the counties of Yorkshire, Nottinghamshire, and Cheshire, but we won't go in to why they are being put forward as potential matches, at least they are in the same country, whereas usually they are in either Australia or the US.

So, i click once on the 'Location' tab and i get a reduction to 26 possible matches, and there's one in a different country.

i then click the 'Location' tab again and i get a reduction to 6 possible matches.

I think that there needs to be another option in the 'Name' to select those with the same spelling of the surname, in order
to end up with just two of the 6 possibilities, those of
Mary Ann Davison and Annie Mary Davison

However, my wish is to be able to pre-select the 'level' of the Location, Name, and Date in the options.
