Concrete evidencce Joseph Roberts ,Sr served at Bunker Hill and on the Maine Coast

Question

Many have stated as fact that Joseph Roberts ,Sr ( b ca 1725-ca 1806 in Brooks or Buckfield, Maine).who was  of Windham,NHand of  Brooks and Buckfield,Maine, served in the Revolution.Locating much supposition,my efforts have located no concrete evidence.

Also, as there were so many Joseph Roberts named men of a like period of time living in Dover and Brentwood ,what evidence other than a similar name is there to assign this Joseph to a particular family.

Thank you any one who can clarify these  events and connections.

Hi I believe the birth, 1729, NH is correct.

Because Joseph Roberts was from NH, I applied the wrong service record, as Captain Roberts of NH.

It turns out Joseph Roberts [1729] was already living in Windham, Maine at the outbreak of the Revolutionary War.

PS in reply to evidence. For primary sources for the men at Bunker Hill there is almost none. There are several secondary sources to support the profile [b. about 1729] as Roberts-16490. The phrase you refer to is below.
