Ancestors of Dighton Moore and Anna Bates

I'm struggling unraveling the correct ancestry of Dighton Moore and Anna Bates because of a number of duplicates that may need merging - but I'd like some heading checks ---- particularly from people who may have access to Ancestry.com records.

The crux is that it appears that Dighton's father and mother-in-law were siblings, based upon Dighton Moore (1815–1876), Anna Bates (1817–1895) • Landscape View • Family Tree • FamilySearch.  Because I don't have the source data that others may have used to link Dighton's ancestors - I don't have what I need to fix the errors that certainly exist. As yet, I haven't had success getting feedback, thoughts, or recommendations from the key profile managers (maybe I'm not patient enough).  So, I thought I would reach out here...specifically to the Appalachia project.

Below is some details of the challenge associated with duplicated profiles.  I know I can initiate merges - but there are questions to be answered before I can confidently merge.

Any recommendations or assistance is welcome and appreciated.

The problem involves several profiles and several PMs

1. [[Moore-4716|Ruth (Moore) Bates (abt.1786-
1861)]] managed by Hope Moore
2. Samuel Moore Jr. (abt.1791-1851)
managed by Hope Moore
3. Samuel Moore (1771-) managed by
Hope Moore
4. [[Michael_Mohr-1|Johann Michael Mohr Sr
(abt.1736-abt.1845)]] manged by [[Bragg-2534|Tayla
Bragg]]
5. [[Mohr-2195|Johann Michael (Mohr) Moore (1738-
abt.1845)]] managed by Nic Land
6. Hannah Ward (abt.1750-abt.1820)
managed by Tayla (Bragg) Ward
7. [[Ward-6455|Hannah (Ward) Moore (abt.1746-
abt.1820)]] managed by Hope Moore
8. James Ward III (1727-1774) managed
by Hope Moore

As you can see Michael_Mohr-1 and Mohr-2195 should
probably be merged - which I have a request in for
(but am delaying because of the multitude of
corrections that are needed in this area). Also,
Ward-38783 and Ward-6455 should also likely be
merged. Moore-11076 is probably the son of Moore-
11170 rather than a duplicate. But, if so, Moore-
11076 shouldn't be listed as the son of
Michael_Mohr-1. Finally, Ward-3512 is listed as the
father of both Hannah Wards listed above; however,
his wife (Phoebe) is only listed as the mother for
one of the two Hannah Wards.

DC -

After several members of the Appalachia Project, and one expert with Ohio, looked at these, it is recommended that you start with the existing merge requests to get some of these cleared. There are three separate profiles for a daughter (Hannah (Ward) Moore) linked to father James Ward III. One merge request already exists so, one at a time is the best way to go with her.  There are also multiple profiles for the husband of Hannah that need merged... one at a time.

From there, if you would like to jump into the Appalachia Project's Discord, you would be most welcome.  We could help you work through these to get this hornet's nest cleaned up. smiley

Ok. Thanks. I’ll work the “easy” merges, then see what I need to do to via Discord for the harder ones. (Haven’t used it yet, so that’ll be new.)

Hornets nest is a good description.

Discord is super easy... and super fun.

Here are the instructions to get verified on WikiTree's Discord Server.

I'm on now.  It seems to be a bit like several other collaboration tools I've encountered in my work world.

I've completed the merges that I could. I've initiated one that needs time to get approved. I'm holding off on one until I've had a chance to chat with the group on Discord. I requested participation in the Appalachian Project, as well.

Probably should have been getting my chores done instead of working Wiki things - but...there is always tomorrow for chores.

Welcome to WikiTree. smiley

I've processed your membership into the Appalachia Project and let our Discord members know you joined the Project.  One member is going to the library to copy pages from a source book that was referenced.
