Could Stout-1717 and Simpson-437 be merged?

Catherine Stout (Stout-1717) was supposedly born in 1698 and died 8 Dec 1749.  Catherine Simpson Stout (Simpson-437) was supposedly born in 1691 and died 8 Dec 1749.

I recently adopted Catherine Stout (Stout-1717).  Outside of the name, dates and that she was born and died in Hopewell, Hunterdon, New Jersey, there is no other information.  No Biography, no Sources.

I suggest they be merged.  Please offer your opinion.

Hi, Jo.

It does seem likely that these are the same person, with LNAB Simpson and married name Stout. As Missy has suggested, a bit of research is needed to confirm that Stout-1717 is intended to be the same person as Simpson-437.

Comment on practical aspects of WikiTree communication: I have edited your question (in my capacity as a G2G moderator) to include a link to one of the profiles you mentioned and to include some tags for their surnames and the geographic context of the profiles. Links and G2G tags help get the attention of members who might know something of relevance to your question (we cannot expect that all of the readers of a public forum with global scope will take the time to look into a question like this one on the off chance that they will have advice to offer -- G2G tags alert people to the a post that may interest them, and the link allows people to look into the topic of the question without having to enter the user ID manually).  I also created an unmerged match between the two profiles; the comment I added should generate an email notification to the managers of both profiles (who are the members most likely to have an interest in this question) and it gives all of us a "compare" link that allows us to easily compare the two profiles and navigate between them. For a highly specific question about two low-visibility profiles, an "unmerged match" (or a "proposed match") and comments on the profiles are often the most efficient way to initiate meaningful discussions among the people most likely to have the interest and knowledge to participate.
Merge and cleanup on profiles has been completed

Hello Jo,

It does look like they are the same person, but have you done any research on the one with no sources? The one with no sources could be Catharine Stout with Stout as the LNAB and they got the death dates mixed up.

At least that is what I would do. Good luck.
