Thanks. My primary use is as more of a historical rather than place-name category but the name has been used both as place and organization. The colony officially lasted only very briefly but the name stuck and was used as a place-name in San Diego County until 1986 when it became incorporated into the city of Encinitas. I don't think the word Colony was ever really part of the place name - it was just Olivenhain. Colony Olivenhain was more the legal framework. The place and history is very much alive and well today with many original buildings including the Town Hall and a town culture that is celebrated at festivals. Residents often, jokingly, call themselves "colonists". I live there, a block from the Hall, in a home built for the granddaughter of one of the first settlers. My thought was to flag all the original settlers and their descendants with this category.
