Y-DNA Propagation and NPE

I'm running into an issue with Y-DNA propagation and NPE. Here's an example I'll use. Let's say we have a Y-DNA tester with a proven paternal line to 1700. He attaches his Y-DNA haplogroup to his WikiTree profile. That haplogroup propagates to his 1700 paternal line ancestor and all his male line descendants. But let's say there is an NPE or genetic break on his paternal line at 1825, and paternal line descendants of ancestors earlier than 1825 have a known different haplogroup. Since the tree is proven and we don't know how the NPE came to be, we'd like to still be able to attach the Y-DNA haplogroup to the WikiTree profile of the tester. Optimally it would be great if we could stop Y-DNA propagation at the generation where we know the NPE occurred, so it doesn't incorrectly show up on WikiTree profiles where we know it doesn't belong.

Any suggestions?

You can select "father is non-biological" on the edit page, at the NPE event, which should prevent further Y-DNA propagation.

Obviously, YDNA results are "biological" and, therefore, should follow the biological line. If you do not know the biological line or where the NPE happened it can be very difficult to know if the propagated YDNA results are accurate for the people in your line the further back you go.

If your line goes back to the 1700s but you know there is an NPE then I would disconnect your known line at the point you believe you are sure.
