landedestate.ie and landedestate.nuigalway.ie links

Question

According to
https://wikitree.sdms.si/default.htm?report=srch1&Query=domain%3Dlandedestates_nuigalway_ie&MaxProfiles=5000&Format=&PageSize=1000
there are 531 different WikiTree profiles with links to
http://landedestates.nuigalway.ie/
which is currently returning this error message:

502 Bad Gateway
Microsoft-Azure-Application-Gateway/v2

In late April 2022, it was announced that NUI Galway would be renamed "Ollscoil na Gaillimhe – University of Galway" in summer 2022, amid confusion over its proper title.  See
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/University_of_Galway
Rather than resolving that confusion, the rebranding exercise has merely caused a lot more confusion.

The main nuigalway.ie domain is diverting correctly to
https://www.universityofgalway.ie/

However, it appears that the content of the landedestates.nuigalway.ie subdomain has been moved to
https://landedestates.ie/
but that the appropriate redirects have not been put in place.

For example,
http://landedestates.nuigalway.ie/LandedEstates/jsp/property-show.jsp?id=2436
should be diverting to
https://landedestates.ie/property/2436

There are currently 796 WikiTree profiles with the links to the new landedestates.ie domain:
https://wikitree.sdms.si/default.htm?report=srch1&Query=domain%3Dlandedestates_ie&MaxProfiles=5000&Format=&PageSize=1000

Is this something that should be corrected by an editbot or by trying to track down the person in Galway responsible for the mess?

You might have a hard time Paddy trying to get someone in Galway to put the redirects in place. It looks simple enough for editbot to rejig the links but obviously Ales has the last say on that.

The situation is worse than I thought. Links like

http://www.landedestates.ie/LandedEstates/jsp/family-show.jsp?id=2046

are returning

404

Not Found

since the content has been moved to

https://landedestates.ie/family/2046

with no redirect put in place.  So many of the 796 links to the newer domain may also be broken.

We have 3 paths to correct. 

• https://landedestates.ie/LandedEstates/jsp/estate-show.jsp?id=1163 to https://landedestates.ie/estate/1163
• http://landedestates.nuigalway.ie/LandedEstates/jsp/family-show.jsp?id=1908 to https://landedestates.ie/family/1908
• https://landedestates.nuigalway.ie/LandedEstates/jsp/property-show.jsp?id=1285 to https://landedestates.ie/property/1285

Can someone check if the numbers (ID) stayed the same in all 3 groups of links?

There is also a variation of links to :8080 which should just be removed

http://landedestates.nuigalway.ie:8080/LandedEstates/jsp/estate-show.jsp?id=2687

If so, it will be no problem for editbot.

There are also a 100 broken links to http://landedestates.ie/LandedEstates/jsp/estate-show.jsp?id=1037 that should also change to  https://landedestates.ie/estate/1037

For any that I have checked, the numbering has remained the same.

However, much of the content does not appear to have been captured by the WayBack Machine, so systematic checking is not easy.

It looks like the search expression for each of the three groups of pages will have to account for the possibility that any or all of the three parts in square brackets may be present or absent in URLs like:
http[s]://landedestates.[nuigalway.]ie[:8080]/LandedEstates/jsp/estate-show.jsp?id=
and all versions can be changed to
https://landedestates.ie/estate/
and similarly for the family and property links.
