10c1r here, I can't help but think we are closer than that. We have ties to Kentuckey, I have a cousin with the middle name Coombs, no idea where that comes from, and your grandpa Haulie comes through my Dalton's via Clement, Clements, Clemens line. You don't happen to be a Missourian by chance?

No, I’m actually from Eastern Kentucky. I know that some of my Clement and Combs lines moved sometime in the late 1800s and early 1900s. I’m not exactly sure where they went but that’s a project I’m going to tackle in the near future. What are some of the names of your ancestors and I’ll definitely check it out

Well Ed Coombs Smith is who I thought of when I saw the photo of Mary Smith Combs. When I checked connections, there was a Daton connection. Archie "Lil' Arch" Clement is a 3rd cousin of mine. His grandma was a Dalton. My mom's maiden name. There is a lot of comingling of names going on to be coincidental.

She’s my paternal grandmother, she was taught grade school in Knott County, Kentucky. She passed away December 17, 2019 at the age of 89
