Bad news: FamilySearch Library Record Lookup Service discontinued

I'm not sure how I missed this but the FamilySearch Library Record Lookup Service has been discontinued.  I found this to be an incredibly valuable service to obtain documents that are not available elsewhere.

Discontinued as of 17 July 2023

Thank you for using the FamilySearch Library Record Lookup Service.

The Lookup Service was created during the COVID-19 pandemic to bridge the gap in records access while FamilySearch Centers (FSCs) were closed.

The majority of FamilySearch records can be accessed either from home or from FSCs. Now that FSCs have reopened, the Record Lookup Service has been be discontinued as of 17 July 2023.

Please visit your nearest FSC for access to most records not available from home. For access to records not available at FSCs, contact the record owner or visit the FamilySearch Library (if the Catalogs show that the Library has a copy of the needed microfilm).

But the GOOD news is that the local research centers are open, once again. Our closest one is open only one day a week, but is a wonderful resource.
