Not going to name real names, so let's pretend I know of a living woman with the birth name Janet Doe who was found in a census record from when she was a child. She is the daughter of John Q Doe, a distant cousin of mine (who is deceased).
I also know that Janet Doe is the daughter of Marjorie Doe (deceased), who was once married to my distant cousin John Q Doe. In fact I am the profile manager for both Marjorie and John Q. Y'all with me so far?
Janet Doe's daughter, Marjorie's granddaughter, created a profile for her mother, identified only as "Living Doe" and the decade in which she was born. (Perhaps I should note that I am NOT on the trusted list for Janet's profile, and she is NOT listed as the daughter of Marjorie and John Q on their profiles, which I do manage.)
I ran a profile search for "Janet Doe"--and the search results turned up her "Living Doe" profile.
And that was when I put it together that Janet Doe and "Living Doe" are the same person, and because I knew both ends, although I didn't know how they connected, I found the middle, despite not being on the trusted list.
Now, I don't think anybody is going to actually mind that I know that Janet is that living Doe, in fact I've corresponded privately with a family member... but might this constitute a privacy breach? Just curious....
