Start a new Project/Sub-Project

I am interested in starting a project/sub-project for Descendants of the Historic Germanna Settlement in Virginia. There are a lot of researchers that focus in this area and would like to have a way to make collaboration with like researchers easier.  I am unsure whether this should be a top level project or a sub-project.  While the Germanna settlement is in Virginia, the descendants have spread out across the country.  Hopefully there is someone who can provide some suggestions/guidance on next steps I can take.  The 1714 immigrants include the following surnames Albrecht, Brombah, Brombach , Kemper/Camper, Merten/Martin, Cuntze'Kuntz, Fishback/Fischback, Otterbach/Utterback, Richter/Rector, Haeger/Hager, Holtzclaw/Holtzklau, Hitt/Heite/Heide, Spielman/Spilman, Hoffmann/Hoffman/Huffman, Weaver/Weber.  The 1717 immigrants added many more surnames.  I figure there could be project teams for different surnames based on interest in that Surname.

In Category:Germanna_Colonies_in_Virginia you will see that there is at least one Germanna One Place Study and several other ongoing initiatives for Germanna.

Also, are you aware of the Palatine Migration Project? There is some perception that the Germanna migrants were unique, but to a significant extent they are indistinguishable from the so-called "Palatines" who arrived in the same time period.

It will be neither a project nor a sub-project.  These have their own requirements.  However, you can start up a *freespace project*:
