Hi there I am new to WikiTree. I hope to find some answers and possible connect with some family members of all ages. I was born December 26,1977 on Vancouver Island in British Columbia Canada. My mother is Donna Lynn Page. My biological father whom I never met was named Richard James Kurahara. He was born in Vancouver British Columbia in 1958. He died in St.Thomas, Ontario Canada 7 October 2012.

His mother was Anna Jean and raised with the surname Redpath/Ridpath. She was born fall of 1941. Father was William Jerry Kurahara who was born 7 December 1935 in Japan and died 7 December 1968 in Vernon, British Columbia.

Welcome to WikiTree Robyn!  It looks like you are off to a great start!

Two goals you will want to achieve are 1. enter your pedigree (family line) then all your grand parents and greats, as far back as you can!  2. The next goal is to connect to the "big tree" (community tree) When new members start adding their pedigree in the system, their tree is just sort of floating in mid air and not really showing the full picture of their heritage.  But, once one of their ancestors mergers with a person already profiled in the system, the connection is made!  The WikiTree connection finder will find all those related to them, which could include Movie Stars, Mayflower passengers, Presidents, Kings and Queens and distant cousins!  Yep we might even be cousins!wink

This is the best place to document your family! It is free, and family members can have access to their heritage with out having to join.  But there is so much more!  When I joined 2 years ago, I knew nothing about genealogy.  I just wanted a place to document all my family on both sides that were written down and passed out at family reunions!  When one of my great grandfathers connected to the community tree, I discovered 30 cousins already working on my 3rd to 6th great grandfathers, all their kids, all their brothers and wives....I was overwhelmed!  This was a life changer for me!  Next, the members here gave me a first year college education in genealogy and how to search for information!

WikiTree has many tools to help you find your ancestors and many members ready to help you also!  Stick around and see for yourself!
